ON THE AIR

THE EARLY SHOW
Producer
Producing live and taped segments for The Early Show entailed pitching stories, researching, field producing, scripting, anchor prep/packeting, booking and coordinating talent/experts and post production. In addition, producers are responsible for liaising with affiliate relations, public relations and providing the website with editorial material. In short, a producer on The Early Show honchos their story from “soup to nuts” with a deadline of hours or days.
As one of the few producers who handled both lifestyle and news stories, duties included producing daily live segments on “hard news” topics (ie. finance, politics, public affairs, global affairs), while balancing a robust roster of human interest stories and live demonstration segments ranging from health, fashion, entertainment, fitness, home and cuisine. These segments depended heavily on the ability of the producer to coordinate set design, scenic design, PR, ad sales, sponsors, music, video, graphics, brands, talent, chefs, food stylists and a myriad of studio crew.
Thrilling, is the best word to describe the dizzying pace of editorial that passes a producer’s desk. Passion for the subjects is the only way to insure the stories are told well while executing every detail flawlessly - LIVE network television settles for nothing less.
