Ms. Roach has 17 years experience in operations and media, as a manager, marketer, television and content producer and web publisher. She has worked with global financial firms, venture-funded companies and major media corporations, such as Viacom and CBS.
Ms. Roach is currently the Head of Marketing and Operations at JCRA Financial LLC, a mid-size financial advisory firm based in London and New York. As head of US marketing operations, Ms. Roach strategizes and executes marketing initiatives from concept to completion. Her duties also include operational responsibilities ranging from human resources to finance to technology.
Ms. Roach is also the founder of Skeebop.com, a family arts enrichment and entertainment directory and events calendar. It has already gained the support of Grammy award winning artists, educators and children’s entertainers.
From 2007 to 2008, Ms. Roach presided as president of a venture-funded digital media company from the business plan phase which garnered an initial investment of $2mm. In her capacity as president of a media start-up, Ms. Roach strategized the business model as well as established and managed operations which included website development, strategic sourcing of a third-party mobile vendor, on-air media marketing professionals, accounting and legal services.
In 2008, Ms. Roach co-founded Mosaic Digital Media to service businesses that seek to make their brand more profitable and visible through interactive and traditional media. As the principal partner, Ms. Roach focused on business development, marketing strategy, and content creation. Among MDM’s several clients, the company managed a $1mm enterprise class digital platform for a portfolio company of SCI Ventures/Syncom.
Prior to forming Mosaic Digital Media, Ms. Roach produced television for CBS News, TVOne, and BET News.
In 1997, Ms. Roach joined CBS News as a production assistant and researcher for The Evening News with Dan Rather, the National News Desk and The Weekend News. From 2000 to 2005, Ms. Roach produced live and taped segments for CBS News’ The Early Show.
BET hired Ms. Roach to re-launch their news division with a more youthful appeal, which included supervising the creation of a shorter news format and a redesign of the division’s visual aesthetics, talent and tone. In that capacity, she worked with the executive producer to develop and cast a news/entertainment magazine show, The Chop-Up. In addition, Ms. Roach produced several one-hour specials, including the network’s highly rated biography of Richard Pryor.
Ms. Roach’s media experience also includes the non-profit sector, where she was the Communications Director and Executive Producer for the Women’s Media Center founded by Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem. In this role, Ms. Roach coordinated and oversaw all media events, video web content, strategic partnerships and advised on the re-launch of the organization’s website.
As the daughter of two artist entrepreneurs – one in music and the other in publishing, media and the arts are her family business. Ms. Roach spent most summers during high school and college working as an apprentice in both disciplines. Ms. Roach’s mother, Janus Adams, is a writer, columnist, television and radio commentator as well as the creator of Harambee, the first African American book club and BackPax – a multicultural children’s series. At 15, Ms. Roach’s mother enlisted her as a production assistant during the creation of her children’s title, “The Underground Railroad: Escape to Freedom”. The taped series followed the Underground Railroad from Jamestown, Virginia to Canada.
On her father’s side, Ms. Roach worked as a production assistant at Max Roach Productions, facilitating tours, performances, appearances, contracts, promotions, media, talent and a host of administrative tasks associated with running an international music production company.
Ms. Roach was born in Harlem and raised in the Connecticut. She attended Wesleyan University and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Spelman College with a concentration in communications and psychology. She is also a board member of the Brooklyn Chapter of Mocha Moms Inc - a 70 family-strong organization, dedicated to the support, enlightenment and enrichment of Brooklyn’s mothers of color.
